Where does our furniture come from?
As a furniture retailer, we import ourselves, directly and pass the savings along to you. 90% of our furnishings are from Denmark and other countries in Scandinavia, people and companies we personally research and know. About 10% of our purchases are from Canada, other European countries such as France and Germany and we also support Thailand’s economy where a few manufacturing facilities are located outside the renewable teak forests. In addition, most of the lamps we purchase come from the good ole USA where we have located local artists who enjoy their craft. Where ever our furniture is purchased from, we can honestly say, ‘if it isn’t quality, we don’t buy it.’ Tastes change over the years, but Danish Modern Design is one of the few furniture styles known as timeless. We don’t want you back in a few years because your furniture is broken or out of style, we want to hear that you’ve returned long after your first purchase because you were able to pass it down to the next generation.
Why is our teak good?
Teak has good natural durability making it one of the strongest woods available. There is no need to impregnate the wood with preservatives to make it last longer, teak comes by it naturally. Teak’s sap has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that make it resistant to parasites and disease. Teak also contains rubber and silica, which repel water, it’s why you often see it used for outdoor furniture or boats. Rubber and silica also give teak great pliability, its better able to withstand higher pressure without cracking.
Our manufacturers make sure the wood they purchase is FSC certified. An FSC certification means the wood was obtained legally in a sustainably produced tropical forest. This FSC certified teak comes from government owned sustainable plantations on Java, Indonesia which began in the 1800’s and from private sustainable plantations in Northern and Central Thailand where it is inspected by the government to verify it is from an approved source. These strict environmental laws are saving many natural teak forests. In addition, the political climate in Burma precludes Denmark from purchasing teak grown in Burma.
Do we handle our own deliveries?
We had many options on how to deliver your furniture. Unlike our competitors, we do not outsource this function to someone else. We want to make sure you receive top quality delivery, so we got our own truck and hired our own people. We don’t believe in drop shipping to your front door and we don’t believe in making you put together something we have an expertise in. Assembly is part of the price, not a service charged to you. We deliver to the exact spot in your house you want the furniture, not in a box at your front door. Why you ask? Because we can service you better should issues arise later. Our service doesn’t end after it’s sold, but after you’re happy.
How much are deliveries?
Delivery charges differ based on the location from our store. We pride ourselves on providing the best delivery experience around. Our trained professionals are personable, detail oriented and always work to make the customers final impression a positive one. We can do this because we own the truck and we hired the employees. Unlike our competitors, we do not outsource this service because we feel it is important to customer satisfaction.
The following is an example of a few cities we deliver to and their charge. Prices are subject to change:
Within 5 miles of store: $40
Metro Denver: $85
Fort Collins: $125
Vail: $150
Cheyenne, WY: $200
Aspen: $350
Santa Fe, NM: $600
How do we give back?
As an added benefit, upon delivery of your new item, we are happy to remove your old furniture. We are proud to support our local DAV (Disabled American Veterans, 5505 W Colfax Ave) www.dav.org with used furniture and the Lutheran Family Services gladly takes the discarded mattresses, helping refugees from abroad establish their first living space http://www.lfsco.org/programs_refugee.php.
In addition, we donate to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation every time you purchase a Serta by Vera Wang Fidelity mattress http://cms.komen.org/komen/index.htm. We also participate in the Denver Food and Wine Classic www.denverfoodandwine.com which benefits the Post-News Charities, the Colorado Restaurant Association Education Fund and Kroenke Sports Charities. And just because we think it’s fun, we run a free water & shower misting station during the Annual Colorado Colfax Marathon.
Why can’t I buy furniture online?
Our website is mainly used to introduce you to our collection and let you browse in the comfort of your own home. After all, you can’t bring your living room with you when it is time to measure! Because we have almost infinite sources, please keep in mind that calling or visiting the store, talking to staff, seeing fabric samples, seeing our brochures and our ever changing collection is the best way to view our selection.
We can work with you to evaluate the most cost-effective way to get your purchase to you. We will always ensure you get a fair shipping price. While we accommodate people from and ship all over the U.S., we do prefer to talk to people over the phone, see them in person and use our own truck. The reasons are obvious:
- We can personally assist you in making the perfect home furnishings choice.
- We can help with measurement, design layout and color choice
- We can better answer any questions you may have about your piece
- We can assure your furniture arrives safely
- We can demonstrate the neat features of your new piece
- We can provide warranty repairs in the future (Ekornes warranty requires you obtain service where you made your purchase).
While we do our best to keep our online prices accurate, prices online are subject to change without notice.
